Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 519

Madeline hadn’t touched her phone in days, so she was completely out of the loop. She didn’t know that online, Helene had been dragged in front of a camera again and again, forced to confess her past mistakes until she finally broke down.

The whole scandal about ‘Madeline attacking Mrs. Grayson with a knife’ had already faded from the headlines. Now, everyone online was focused on tearing Helene apart.

When Madeline finally heard what had happened, she was honestly shocked.

At the Ballard estate, word about the real heiress coming home had spread fast. Nobody even needed Maxwell or the others to say anything. By the time anyone could blink, the entire family had gathered in the grand hall.

There were rows of carved wooden chairs on each side, and everyone sat exactly where they were supposed to, arranged by age and status. No one ever dared mess with the Ballards’ rules about hierarchy.

The room was mostly quiet, with only a few whispers here and there, until the man sitting at the top of the left row finally spoke up. “I guess you’re all here because you heard my sister’s real daughter is back?”

“Yeah, we heard the main house was wild last night. Even from our courtyard, we could hear everything. I heard there were two people who looked exactly the same. What a scene. After all that, I wonder if the one they kept is even the real one.” Brendan’s voice carried a teasing edge. He was the youngest son of Anthony, who was Shelly’s father.

The man at the top seat cracked his eyes open and gave a cold laugh. “I heard you can’t even tell them apart.”

She glanced at each of them, remembering what Maxwell had told her. The man sitting at the top on the left was her second uncle, Sam. The one who’d been the loudest just now was her third uncle, Brendan. The rest were mostly cousins.

Claire knew Sam and Brendan would be the toughest to deal with and had the most say in the family. She was well aware that taking control of the Ballard family wouldn’t be easy, not just because of Madeline, but also because of these uncooperative relatives.

But she was ready for whatever they threw at her. She was in this for the long haul.

Brendan looked her up and down, a sneer curling his lips. “So, you’re Madeline… my sister’s real daughter?”
