Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 478

"I didn't hurt your mother. She was already injured when I got there."

"I know."

"You believe me?" Madeline blinked, watching the man crouched in front of her as he carefully fastened her buttons.

By now, she figured she should be public enemy number one. Was Julian really on her side?

Julian’s hand brushed her clothes and he noticed how they were drenched with icy seawater. He frowned, then slipped his hand inside her coat to check.

His warm palm skimmed her sensitive skin and Madeline jerked away, startled by the sudden touch. She let out a quiet gasp before she could stop herself.

Every bodyguard on the boat turned their heads to stare.

Madeline glanced up and met a wall of curious eyes. Julian’s hand was still on her, and she could feel her cheeks burning.

Miles coughed, trying to break the tension.

Seriously, boss? Is this really the time? This boat is freezing. If you mess around now, isn’t Madeline going to catch a cold?

Miles waved at the others with an exasperated sigh. "What are you all staring at? Didn’t you say you wanted to see the ocean? Tonight’s your chance, take a good look."

The bodyguards obediently turned to the pitch-black water.

Madeline had only been a little embarrassed before, but now, thanks to Miles and his awkward attempt to cover for them, her face felt like it was on fire.

Julian finally let go, his expression still tight. Even her inner clothes were soaked.

"I just wanted to check if your shirt was wet."

Madeline pressed her lips together, still feeling the warmth of his hand on her skin.

There were no dry clothes on the boat. Julian quickly told someone to find a place for her to change.

Time was running out, and Julian didn’t want Madeline to catch a chill. As soon as they reached the shore, he found a small bed and breakfast nearby.

Julian carried Madeline out of the car while Miles hurried ahead to get a room.
