Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 477

Just as someone lunged forward to grab Madeline, a gunshot exploded through the air. The bullet hit the man’s arm. He howled in pain behind her, making Madeline flinch in shock.

She glanced up at the helicopter overhead, its spotlight locking onto her slim figure. Her pursuers weren’t backing off. They kept coming, relentless and determined.

Suddenly, several speedboats raced across the water toward her. Madeline counted seven, maybe eight, each one loaded with bodyguards in sharp suits. They looked serious, moving in close with a force that felt impossible to escape.

On the lead boat, a man raised his pistol and fired again. Another pursuer went down.

Julian was here.

Madeline glanced over her shoulder, then gritted her teeth. She didn’t hesitate. She turned her jet ski and sped straight toward Julian’s boat, reaching out her hand. Right then, one of the men behind her, furious now, pulled a gun and aimed right at her.

Julian’s eyes narrowed. For a split second, he was back in that terrifying night more than two months ago, his heart thudding painfully in his chest. He didn’t waste a moment. He leaned over, grabbed Madeline by the waist, and pulled her onto the boat in one smooth move.

A bullet grazed Julian’s arm and slammed into the side of the boat. He held onto Madeline, worry etched all over his face as he checked her over. “Are you okay?”

Madeline shook her head. “I’m fine.”

She immediately looked back, searching for the blond man. “Hurry, help me save—” She wanted to say they should help him, but it was too dark out there. In just a few minutes, he’d disappeared without a trace.

The men chasing her saw she’d made it onto Julian’s boat and froze. Their leader didn’t hesitate. He barked out an order. “That’s the Grayson family. Don’t fight them. Fall back.”

They sped away, leaving the sea quiet except for the Grayson family’s boats.

Madeline was still worried about the blond man when, out of nowhere, she was swept off her feet. She gasped, instinctively throwing her arms around Julian’s neck. “What are you doing?”
