The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 854

What did Alexander plan to do with her?

He couldn't stay seated. He shot up from his chair, grabbing his jacket from the backrest and rushing toward the door, his steps so frantic he nearly stumbled.

He collided with Bianca just as she was arriving with a glass of water.

“Where are you going so late?” Bianca asked, steadying him. She looked at his panicked expression, a flicker of confusion in her eyes. “Is something wrong at the company?”

Jake’s eyes darted away, avoiding her gaze. “It’s nothing,” he said, his tone clipped. “Just an urgent matter I have to deal with. I have to go out.”

He pulled his arm from her grasp and hurried toward the entrance without another word of explanation.

Bianca stood frozen, watching his retreating back, the seed of suspicion in her mind growing deeper. Jake had always been composed, unshakable even in a crisis. He had never been this flustered. And the look in his eyes… he was hiding something.

After a moment’s hesitation, a sense of unease compelled her to act. She returned to her room, grabbed her purse and phone, and hurried out after him.

She hailed a taxi. “Follow that black sedan,” she told the driver.

The taxi pulled away from the curb, keeping a discreet distance behind Jake’s car. Bianca sat in the back, watching the city lights streak by, her stomach twisting into knots. She had a sinking feeling that Jake’s strange behavior had something to do with Heather. For years, Heather had been a ghost haunting their marriage, a wound that never healed. His sudden, frantic departure in the middle of the night could only be connected to her.

In his own car, Jake dialed the anonymous number. It was answered almost immediately.
