The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 66

After the morning seminar, it was finally lunchtime.

The Blackwood Research Institute hosted all the visitors in their staff dining hall.

Gian led Danielle in that direction, blending into the gentle hum of conversation.

"To be honest, even after all these years, this place hasn't changed much," he remarked.

Danielle gave him a small smile. "You're right."

The building looked the same, but the people—well, that was a different story.

She rubbed her temples, feeling a wave of dizziness. Lately, she'd been running on empty, skipping meals and losing sleep. Her body was starting to sound the alarm.

Gian noticed her discomfort. "Why don't you go grab a seat? I'll get your lunch."

Danielle shook her head, embarrassed to trouble him again. "That's okay. I can manage."

But Gian looked unconvinced, worry creasing his brow. "If you're not feeling well, I can take you to the lounge to rest. You can skip the afternoon events."

He knew all too well how Danielle had been burning the candle at both ends—preparing for her new job, keeping her professional skills sharp, raising her child. She didn't even have to come to the Blackwood Research Institute's open house; she'd be working here soon enough. But Danielle insisted, drawn in by the lectures—and maybe by the chance to remind everyone she was back.

Whatever she did, she did it with everything she had.

"I'm fine," Danielle insisted.

But as she stood in line, tray in hand, her vision suddenly went black and she felt herself tipping backward.

Panic raced through her—she was going to fall—when a strong pair of hands caught her, steadying her before she hit the ground.

"Are you alright?" Gian's face was etched with concern.

"Just a bit of low blood sugar. I'll be fine after a minute." Danielle tried to brush it off, glancing up as she made her way to a nearby table—only to lock eyes with Alexander.
