The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 45

Alexander's sudden invitation caught Niki off guard.

He'd never offered her a ride before.

He assumed she'd say yes.

To his surprise, Niki didn't hesitate—she simply opened the back door and slid in without a word.

"I'm not riding in your car, Uncle," she announced.

Alexander's brow twitched almost imperceptibly. He was about to reply when Millie approached, holding Raffy's hand.

"Daddy, what are you talking to them about?" Raffy called out, his voice carrying across the driveway.

The sight of those two troublemakers set Danielle's nerves on edge. Without a word, she yanked open the driver's door and drove off.

Through the rearview mirror, Niki could see the three of them—Alexander, Millie, and Raffy—laughing together, the picture of a happy little family.

She pressed her lips together and looked away.

Danielle noticed her daughter's mood, glanced into the mirror, and let out a cold, mocking laugh.

Alexander's invitation had been nothing more than a whim; as soon as Millie and Raffy appeared, all his attention shifted to them.

Danielle's voice grew soft as she comforted her daughter. "Niki, even if your father doesn't love you, don't let it get you down. There are plenty of people in this world who will."

Niki nodded. "I know, Mom."

Danielle drove them to the old family estate.

The house sat nestled in the hills, steeped in history and classic charm.

The Davidson family had been respected for generations—scholars, businessmen, always leaders in their fields.

Their home reflected that legacy in every detail.

Helen lived in the guesthouse at the back, separate from the main house. The elderly always seemed to prefer peace and quiet.

Danielle parked by the guesthouse, hoping to avoid any unwanted encounters with the rest of the Davidsons.

"Danielle?" Paula Davidson's voice cut through the stillness. "What are you doing back here?"

Danielle stiffened.
