The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 255

The man’s expression was calm and inscrutable. No one had noticed when he arrived, and it was impossible to tell how much of their conversation he’d overheard.

Millie froze for a split second. “Alex.”

There was no hint of emotion in Alexander’s dark eyes. “What’s wrong?”

He seemed perfectly casual, giving no sign he’d heard what they’d been discussing. And even if he had, so what? There was nothing inappropriate about their conversation.

Millie pressed her lips together, taking a slow, deep breath. “Miss Crawford has Ninesky backing her now. She’s not someone we can afford to cross.”

Alexander slid one hand into his pocket, tilting his head with a faint, dismissive smile. “Why would we bother crossing her?”

Millie nearly choked on her words. For a fleeting moment, she understood something in his gaze. He was right—someone at Danielle’s level was hardly worth their attention.

“Let’s go,” Alexander said.

A spark of surprise and joy lit up Millie’s face. She’d assumed he was just passing by on his way to the restroom—who would have thought he’d come just to get her?

They headed out together.

Millie broke the silence. “I’m confident I can handle the Ninesky project, but after this profit-sharing agreement is signed—” She hesitated, searching for the right words. “Isn’t it a little risky to work with them?”

If she’d been in charge of the project herself, she could have secured a steady profit and helped AetherX Dynamics recover its losses within a year.

Alexander strode forward, his tone calm and unconcerned. “If they’re willing to sign the profit-sharing agreement, it means they’re up to the challenge.”

“What’s there to worry about?” He glanced at Millie. “Just wait for your cut.”

Millie tightened her grip on her bag, her voice lowering. “I just hope they’re not biting off more than they can chew. Besides, Miss Crawford doesn’t really have what it takes—she’s still relying on Mr. Atwood.”

Alexander’s reply was cool and matter-of-fact. “It’s a mutually beneficial partnership.”
