On the other end of the line, Raffy paused, a little stunned, then asked, "Mom, are you jealous because I've been spending time with Miss Millie?"
He didn't believe for a second that his mom would actually abandon him.
After all, she'd always loved him unconditionally—maybe even more than she loved Niki!
Danielle had no patience for reasoning with a child, especially when she was busy.
"If there's nothing else, I'm going to hang—"
"Beep... beep... beep..."
Before she could finish, Raffy hung up on her.
Danielle stared at her phone, speechless for a moment.
She shrugged off the interruption and returned to her work, focused on testing the tracks.
Raffy, meanwhile, tossed his phone aside with a huff of disdain.
Honestly! Mom's the one who stormed out first, and now she expects him to apologize? Not a chance.
He stomped up the carpeted stairs toward his room, only to run into Alexander coming down.
Alexander caught sight of his son, reached out to ruffle his hair. "What did your mom say to you?"
Raffy replied, "Nothing much. But I know for sure—she wants to come back, but she just can't admit it. She wants me to beg her, but I won't!"
Alexander regarded him thoughtfully. "Is that so?"
"Of course! Mom loves me way too much. Dad, do you really think she'd just leave me behind?"
Alexander nodded. "No, she wouldn't. She was just upset, that's all."
Hearing this, Raffy felt reassured. He was now convinced that Mom was just throwing a tantrum—she'd be back in a few days.
And when she did, he'd finally get to eat her cooking again.
