The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 226

“Mr. Keeley called earlier today.”

Danielle’s eyes flickered. “What did he say? Are we moving forward with the partnership?”

“He’s willing to work together, but only if we team up with Newsworld and Cloudpath. There are still some details to iron out—they want to sign the contract once everything’s finalized.”

The government would take the lead, nudging the major companies to collaborate.

Ninesky was one of the favored up-and-comers, the kind the government wanted to see mentored by industry giants. On the one hand, new talent and fresh ideas would be injected into the project; on the other, the big corporations would provide a steadying hand, making the whole venture far more secure.

In other words, they had no choice but to work with Newsworld.

If they wanted in on this government project, cooperation was inevitable.

Danielle set her file aside and looked up. “So, did you agree?”

“Not yet.” Gian hesitated. “Honestly, I’m just worried you’d be uncomfortable with it.”

Danielle didn’t answer. Her gaze drifted to the window. Just moments ago, sunlight had flooded the city. Now, dark clouds loomed on the horizon, a storm rolling in.

She let out a slow breath, then managed a faint smile as she turned back.

“We don’t really have any other option.”

Working with them might feel as revolting as swallowing a fly, but it was still the smart move. The government knew what it was doing.

The problem was all the tangled personal grudges.

Danielle had no desire to clash with them; she’d rather pretend they were strangers.

“Gian, I’m really not that petty. The divorce is already underway. Once the waiting period’s over, I’ll sign the papers.”

“I’ve let go of that marriage.”

They were nothing more than stepping stones on her climb up the ladder.

Gian’s gaze deepened as he set down his coffee and let out a quiet sigh.

“If you didn’t have to keep your identity secret, then—”

Danielle shook her head. “Let the past stay in the past. I’m not the same person anymore.”

Gian paused, watching her, noting the cool composure in her expression.

She was strikingly beautiful, but there was a distance to her, a kind of icy reserve that made people hesitate to approach. Her accomplishments had once been adopted by the nation’s military technology division, achievements no one else had matched to this day.
