He adjusted the collar of his suit, straightened his back, and walked toward the medical examination center with steady, purposeful strides.
His back was as rigid as a pine tree, betraying not a single ounce of vulnerability.
He was Alexander, the man at the helm of The Davidson Group, the anchor for Danielle and Niki.
He couldn't fall, and he absolutely would not let himself fall.
At the same time, downstairs at Ninesky Technologies, Danielle was holding Niki's hand, standing by the curb waiting for a ride.
Niki's small hand gripped Danielle's fingers tightly, her little face beaming with excitement. "Mommy, are we going to the old estate today? Will we get to see Raffy?"
"I even brought my building blocks to play with him!"
"Yes, we are," Danielle said with a warm smile. "I also bought those strawberries Raffy loves. I'll make you both a strawberry cake tonight."
"Yay!"
Niki cheered, standing on her tiptoes to press a sweet kiss to Danielle's cheek.
A taxi slowly pulled up to the curb, and Danielle scooped Niki into her arms as they climbed into the back seat.
At the old estate.
Bianca was sitting in a wicker chair in the courtyard, sorting through fresh vegetables. When she saw Danielle and Niki walk in, she immediately stood up with a bright smile. "You're back! Come sit down."
"Raffy just finished his homework and was just talking about you two."
"Thanks for everything, Bianca."
Danielle walked over with a smile and handed her the bags she was carrying. "I picked up some fruit and a few books for Raffy."
"You didn't have to bring anything," Bianca chided gently as she took the bags. Her gaze softened as she looked at Danielle. "You're looking so vibrant lately. It seems Alexander has finally stopped making you miserable."
A faint blush crept onto Danielle's cheeks. She lowered her head and smiled softly, choosing not to say anything.
Just then, Raffy ran out of the house. His eyes lit up the moment he saw them, and he instantly sprinted over. "Danielle, Niki!"
"Raffy!"
Niki let go of Danielle's hand and grabbed Raffy's. The two of them ran back into the house, and a second later, the sound of their joyous giggles filled the air.
Watching the children, Danielle's smile grew so tender it could melt ice.
She linked her arm through Bianca's and headed toward the kitchen. "Let me cook tonight. You go take a rest."
"Alright."
Bianca nodded with a smile. She sat on a small stool nearby, watching Danielle bustle around the kitchen, her heart swelling with emotion.
Nowadays, Danielle not only managed Ninesky Technologies flawlessly but also took such excellent care of Niki. She radiated an aura of calm, unshakeable confidence.
Bianca thought back to the past.
She had been so blind back then.
Danielle moved with practiced efficiency—washing vegetables, chopping them, and tossing them into the pan all in one seamless flow.
