As they stared at each other for a long moment, silence filled the air. Birds fly up the tree, causing the branches to shake, and a leaf falls from the tree, resting upon Alexandra's shoulder.
She averts her eyes towards her shoulder and picks up the leaf, memories of Nathaniel flood her mind and she wonders why. Nathaniel never brought flowers and wasn't the type who loves to gift plants. He knew she loved to read and he didn't fail to send her a book after they had returned from the inn.
"Fine I want to believe you,, Alexandra"
"And so?"
"I will only believe that you are thinking about him if you give it to me"
"Give what to you?" She asks, a hint of confusion washing across her face
"You know exactly what I'm talking about"
"What are you talking about?"
Even though Alexandra could sense what he was driving at, she wouldn't miss the chance to watch him spill the words lingering In his heart ever since he stepped foot in her house but he had suppressed it, cunningly making her come to the woods, lured Nathaniel in the same place just to rip them apart.
"How could you not know what I'm talking about?"
"Am I a witch? How in the world am I supposed to read your mind to know precisely what is running through it"
"Are you sure?"
"I don't know what you want Adam"
"I want what you stole from me"
Alexandra takes a step back, she never expected him to come off like that.
"That's rich" she smiles but it didn't reach her eyes.
"Is it?"
"Yea"
"Well it isn't for me Alexandra because I want it back"
"What exactly do you want back because last I remembered, I never stole anything from you"
"Yes you did"
"I didn't"
"Yes you did"
"I said I didn't Adam"
Feeling a rush of anger, Adam grips her shoulders. "I said you did!" His eyes darken and Alexandra quickly breaks away from him.
"Get away from me"
Adam chuckles, fisting his hand into his messy hair. "Really?"
"I didn't take anything from you, you're insane"
"Yes! Yes I am insane and you're the one to blame for my insanity"
As that familiar word echoes in her head, Nathaniel's face floods her mind.
"Nathaniel" she muttered, hating to have pushed him away, turns around to leave but Adam holds her hand.
"Don't walk away when I'm talking to you"
"Let me go" She breaks away, glaring at him.
"Alright, I will let you go but first you have to give me your life"
"What?" Alexandra's eyes widened "What did you just say?"
"Give me the part of your life that should have been mine"
"Huh! I only played what you started Adam, you are only stupid not to see it"
Feeling a surge of anger, Adam glares at her, attempting to grip his hand around her neck and controls himself.
"The same stupidity you displayed that's why you didn't see the bigger picture"
"Shut your trap" Alexandra clenches her jaw. She knows he was talking about Nathaniel, a smile plays on her side lips hating how right he was. Her stupidity has made her not see the bigger picture and she had played along with hopes that she had everything under control.
"Why? Isn't that the truth? You didn't see the picture earlier else you wouldn't have made a a such a stupid move that cost you, Nathaniel"
"Shut your mouth, I said. You have no idea what I'm capable of"
"Of course I know, you two-faced conniving little witch or you do think I wouldn't realize just what sort of person you are Alexandra Guerrero"
"Now you know, what are you going to do?"
"How arrogant" he scoffs
"Let's say I'm nothing like you imagined. Is not like you are any Saint, Adam Hawthorn"
"You don't say"
"Did you honestly think I was going to let you win in the ceremony"
"I thought you would, funny how you had me fooled, isn't it?"
"If I didn't give it to you back then, I will never give it to you now. I will never give let you take away what belongs to me"
"Really?"
"Try and take it and let's see" Alexandra states, her eyes filled with intense rage.
Adam was not going to step on her esteem like Bernard and Veronica did. Alexandra wouldn't let anyone do it again.
