After the events of today, Josiah was entirely done with the Sloan family. No matter how hard he worked or how much he tried to keep the ship afloat, in his father's eyes, everything was always his fault.
This family was rotten to the core.
Clive, who was never known for having a good temper, felt completely cornered. Seeing Josiah lashing out at everyone like a cornered animal, Clive’s pride snapped. His face burned crimson. Like a cat getting its tail stepped on, he lunged violently toward his older brother, his fist raised.
"Josiah! Say that one more time, I dare you!" Clive roared. "Don't think I don't know what you're doing! You and Dad were the ones running the company. Now that it's going under, you think you can just use us as your punching bags to make yourself feel better?"
Clive refused to be Josiah's emotional scapegoat.
Before his fist could connect, Zeus moved with startling speed, wrapping his arms around Clive and hauling him backward. "Clive! Cool it! We’re in a hospital!"
Clive was vibrating with adrenaline, desperate to hit his brother, but with Zeus holding him back, he was forced to stand down.
Under any other circumstance, Clive wouldn't have listened. But ever since his illness, he had grown much closer to Zeus. More importantly, he knew his future medical treatments relied entirely on his second brother's financial and scientific support. If Zeus told him to back off, he had no choice but to obey.
Josiah's sharp eyes darted between his two younger brothers. Despite the anger coursing through his veins, he couldn't help but notice the bizarre dynamic playing out in front of him.
Since when did the youngest brother listen to Zeus like a trained dog?
Growing up, Clive had been the spoiled little tyrant of the house. He only ever listened to Tamara, and even then, she struggled to rein in his tantrums. Just seconds ago, Clive had been ready to draw blood, yet a single word from Zeus had forced the famously arrogant, explosive sibling to swallow his rage whole.
It was incredibly abnormal.
