The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 594

Leilani instinctively scrunched her brows together again. Her mind replayed Callahan's abnormal behavior from that evening on a relentless loop.

They had known each other for quite a long time, yet she had never once seen him react like that. Anyone with eyes could see that something was clearly wrong.

Yet, as she sifted through their recent conversations and his current situation, she truly couldn't pinpoint exactly what was bothering him.

Was it related to the company? Or was it something else...?

...

The following morning, right as Leilani finished washing up, her phone began to ring.

It was a call from Floyd.

Leilani picked up instantly. "Mr. Dillon."

On the other side, Floyd's voice sounded laced with exhaustion, yet it retained its usual grounded steadiness. "Leilani, how was that patient's condition last night?"

Leilani walked over to the window. Doing a quick mental calculation, she figured it had to be the dead of night over where Floyd was. She threw the curtains open, allowing the bright sunlight to pour in and flood the room with its warmth.

Leilani systematically reported the events of the previous day. "The patient's condition has stabilized for now, but the police are still investigating what exact substance triggered the episode. Tracking down the source is going to take them some time. However..."

Recalling the patient's identity, Leilani couldn't help but feel a lingering sense of bewilderment. "Mr. Dillon, you never told me the patient was a criminal before I headed over."

She had assumed she'd be treating a politician like Mr. Chilton. She certainly never expected a convicted prisoner. Did Floyd's elite medical team actually take on jobs like this?
