Clive kept his face tight with displeasure. Mr. Watson was, after all, his boss at the company. No matter how dismissive or annoyed he felt internally, he didn't dare voice it aloud.

Tamara smoothed her long hair, feigning shyness. "Clive has always been the one who cares for me the most."
Carola looked at her with adoration. "Of course! You're Clive's only sister! Who does Leilani think she is? How could she even compare to you?"
A trace of cold malice flashed in Tamara's eyes, but she quickly reverted to her gentle demeanor. "Carola, don't say that about Leilani... She just... doesn't like me very much."
Carola immediately became indignant. "Tamara, you're just too kind! After the way Leilani treated you, you're still defending her!"
Tamara lowered her lashes and whispered, "After all, we are family..."
Her display of compromising for the sake of peace made Carola feel even more protective, and her disgust for Leilani deepened.
