Just then, Callahan looked up. His gaze bypassed the woman and landed straight on Leilani. Their eyes met. Leilani's lips curved slightly, and she blinked at him, her eyes teasing.
Callahan's gaze darkened. He pushed past the woman next to him and strode toward Leilani.
The woman froze, turned, and saw Leilani. Her face instantly changed.
"Who are you?" The woman demanded arrogantly. Her eyes swept over Leilani's simple clothes and her bare neck and wrists, devoid of any jewelry. A trace of disdain flashed in the woman's eyes. She assumed Leilani was just another gold digger chasing Callahan's status and wealth.
Before Leilani could speak, Callahan had already reached her. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms, his voice icy.
"She's with me."
Impossible! The woman seriously doubted her ears. But the intimacy of Callahan holding Leilani couldn't be faked.
Callahan wasn't the type to hug a stranger just to escape a situation. So, what he said was true!
Leilani was the mysterious woman from his box earlier!
The woman's face turned ugly. She couldn't believe it. Aside from having a passable face, this girl was completely ordinary. Was Callahan blind? How could he fall for her?
The woman glared at Leilani with resentment, her face full of jealousy as she hurled insults. "Callahan, has she put a spell on you? A woman this plain? What do you see in her?"
"Oh? Compared to her, I think you're the plain one."
