The Officer's Runaway Wife and Secret Son novel Chapter 351

"Mr. Huntington told you?" Clara repeated.

She didn't have to think hard to guess what had happened. Though their encounter at the hospital entrance had been brief, Mia Huntington was Rhys's aunt. Despite saying she wouldn't bother them, she had clearly turned right around and reported the news to Rhys.

Clara could understand.

Noah Carter put down his silverware and held out his hand to Clara. "Let me see Felix, too."

Clara handed him the phone.

Noah took it, propped it against a water glass, and adjusted the angle so both he and Clara were in the frame.

"Felix, did you just have a bath? You need to dry your hair before you play, or you'll catch a cold."

Felix's voice brightened at the sound of Noah's.

"Daddy Noah! I'm not cold, but it's so boring at home. Daddy Simon is just scrolling through videos, and Grandma and Grandpa went to see a play. There's no one to play with me."

A child's complaints always ended with a wheedling tone. Noah listened patiently until Felix was finished before asking casually, "And Mr. Huntington?"

Felix replied, "He didn't come today. I asked Daddy Simon where he went, and Daddy Simon said he went home. He's a police officer in Brighton City, and his home is in Brighton City, right?"

The smile on Noah's lips tightened.

The words "went home" held a completely different meaning for him.

Because Clara had come to Brighton City, the man who had stubbornly refused to leave Heron Bay had followed her back.

For Rhys, "home" was never the Huntington family estate, the Johnson family home, or the police barracks. The only home he truly wanted to return to was wherever Clara was.

Wherever she went, his gaze would follow.

"You're a smart boy, Felix," Noah praised, then changed the subject slightly. "But Felix, you're the little man of the house. While your mom's away, your job is to help Grandma and Grandpa take care of things."

Felix pursed his lips and nodded. "I know."
