Emily stared blankly at the radiant, magnetic man on stage, her little heart pounding furiously in her chest.
It took her a long time to regain her senses. Her red lips parted slightly as she stammered, "He does... look a bit handsome today."
Kenneth's style had always leaned toward rock and roll. The last time she saw him dressed this formally was at Charlotte's wedding.
But back then, he had worn a black suit, making him look more mature and grounded.
Today, he was in a white suit with a red rose pinned to his lapel. His hair had been perfectly styled, completely transforming his usual vibe.
"Pfft—" Shirley waved the cheering board in her hands and laughed. "Kenneth looks amazing in that outfit, but if you didn't know better, you'd think he was getting married."
"..."
Emily curled her lips into a smile. It really did give off that kind of vibe.
Thinking of marriage, the girl pressed her lips together and sneaked a peek at Charlotte, who was sitting next to her looking entirely unbothered.
She had heard Anthony say before that he had fallen in love with Charlotte the very first day they 'met'.
If it hadn't been for her age, he would have dragged her home to be his wife right then and there.
She had known his brother Roger for over twenty years, but she and Kenneth had only been dating for a year. They hadn't even reached any substantial physical intimacy, let alone marriage.
Kenneth wasn't... planning to break up with her, was he?
At that thought, Emily couldn't help but shiver as panic began to bubble up inside her.
She wasn't the type to cling on desperately. If Kenneth really wanted to break up, how was she supposed to respond?
Just as Emily was spiraling in her own thoughts, Charlotte nudged her elbow, softly reminding her, "What are you spacing out for? Kenneth is getting his award."
Emily looked up and, sure enough, saw the presenter handing him the trophy and asking for his acceptance speech.
Kenneth gripped the trophy and stood before the microphone. His gaze swept across every corner of the venue before finally landing on the VIP section.
"It is a tremendous honor to receive this gold award..."
Kenneth spoke, his fluent, beautiful English echoing throughout the massive hall. "I poured a lot of time into preparing this album."
