The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1745

“I thought you were busy with school tonight and wouldn’t be home. So, what are you doing here?”

Anthony snapped out of it, his thick eyebrows pinched together, and he rushed over to Charlotte. The dark edge around him faded into something warm and protective, his voice soft and cautious.

“It’s just a little surprise check.”

Charlotte squinted, something unreadable flickering in her eyes as her lips curled up. “Anthony, why are you so tense?”

He hesitated, body slightly bent as he looked down at her, searching her face for a hint of what she felt. His lips pressed into a line. “I can explain.”

Charlotte bit into her candy, tossed the stick in the trash, and gave a half smile. “I don’t want to hear it.”

Whatever Anthony wanted to say got caught in his throat. He looked serious, honestly troubled.

She’s got it all wrong.

“I…”

He started, frown deepening, but Charlotte suddenly stepped past him and stopped in front of the girl with curly hair. Charlotte looked down at her, voice light and casual.

“Didn’t you say you always get what you want? Why don’t you share your plan? Tell me, how were you planning to win Anthony over? Was it all about figuring out what he likes? Is it coffee? Some pastries?”

Charlotte’s tone was icy calm, every word landing hard. “Anthony almost never drinks coffee. And those croissants? He only carries them because I love them.”

Realizing Charlotte had overheard everything, the woman’s face went ghostly pale, panic flashing across her features. “Charlotte…”

“What did you just call me?”

Charlotte’s cold stare made her heart pound. The girl quickly corrected herself. “Mrs. Blair.”
