Had Charlotte really just cracked the toughest security system in the world—her own?
“What’s going on?” Anthony asked as he slid into the seat next to her, eyeing her annoyed expression.
“Beats me,” Charlotte muttered, not slowing down as her fingers danced across the keyboard.
A moment later, a string of numbers popped up on the screen. She copied the phone number and sent it to Adonis. Look into this number. I want to know what Kenneth is up to.
On it, Charlotte, came Adonis’s quick reply.
He and Jackson jumped into action, splitting the tasks. One tracked the phone number, the other dug into Kenneth. Less than five minutes later, both of them paused at the same time and looked up, exchanging glances.
Jackson spoke first. “The number belongs to the owner of a manga company.”
Adonis chimed in. “And I found out Kenneth is trying to buy manga rights. He hired you because he wanted to use the owner’s contacts to get in touch with J.”
Both men just stared at each other, their expressions impossible to describe. It was obvious—Kenneth had no clue that J was actually Charlotte. A million dollars wasted for nothing.
After putting all the pieces together, Jackson and Hans gave Charlotte the rundown.
“Got it,” she said, brows drawn together. She couldn’t decide whether to laugh or get mad. Kenneth really was hopeless.
“You never told me you could draw manga.” Anthony squeezed her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder as he peeked down at the contract in her hands. He let out a low laugh. “The royalties are insane. You’re making more than most celebrities.”
