Before Emily could get a word out, Kenneth chimed in beside her, his tone thick with sarcasm. “Sabina, right?”
At the sound of his voice, Sabina turned to look. When she saw who it was, she stopped short.
Kenneth?
She actually liked his songs, and she had to admit, he was good-looking too. After spending so long in the industry, she’d always hoped to find a way to be friends with him. She never expected she’d bump into him here.
“Kenneth, what are the odds?” Sabina said, her surprise showing. She tucked her hair behind her ear, showing off her perfectly sculpted, not-so-natural face. Reaching out her hand with a flirtatious smile, she added, “It’s our first time meeting, and you already recognize me?”
“It really is a coincidence.” Kenneth didn’t move, just pushed his sunglasses up a little with one hand. He glanced at Sabina, lips curling in a sly, unreadable way. “I just finished reading an article about you. It was hard to forget. How could I not recognize you?”
“Really?” The fact that Kenneth knew who she was made Sabina almost giddy. She’d been working hard lately to get her name out there. Whatever Kenneth saw, it probably praised her looks or her acting. Judging by his reaction, he’d clearly noticed her appearance.
Emily listened to them, pressing her lips together as she glanced at Kenneth. What was he playing at? Was this really the time for old acquaintances?
“I still remember the article’s title…” Kenneth was dressed in laid-back black, his frame looking even taller and leaner. His hands were shoved in his pockets. That smirk on his lips just made him seem even more wicked.
Both women were watching him, each with her own thoughts.
Sabina looked hopeful, almost excited.
Emily, though, clenched her jaw and balled her hands into fists.
