The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 193

“J, I’m so glad you made it. Where have you been? We went to your place, but you weren’t there.” Aaron didn’t notice anything odd about him, since he was always so distant.

It was perfectly normal for him to have a dangerous edge after a fight.

The man broke eye contact, said nothing, and got into a Mercedes. He pulled away, leaving Aaron standing there, completely lost.

Petty hurried over, a little out of breath. “I’m taking Harris to the hospital to get his finger checked. Can you have the guys clean up here?”

Aaron nodded, gave his team a few quick instructions, and went to get the car.

Once they were in the car, Harris glanced over at Petty, catching her worried expression. “Let’s go to the hospital where I work. My colleague there is the best. Other hospitals can’t compare.”

Petty nodded, her heart still pounding. “Alright.”

She knew Harris never asked for anything in return, but she didn’t want to owe him. If his hand ended up hurt because of what he did for her...

As if sensing how anxious she felt, Aaron put his foot on the gas, racing toward the White Family’s hospital.

Harris made a call on the way, so the second they arrived, someone ushered him off for treatment.

Just like Harris had guessed, it was only a minor fracture in his pinky, nothing too serious. Still, it was exactly what Petty had been afraid of. The doctor said it might affect how well Harris could hold a scalpel.

“I’ve heard you already sent in your resignation and are planning on leaving,” the orthopedic doctor said. He seemed friendly, maybe even close to Harris.

Harris nodded. “Yeah, I’m going back to help out in the family business. My dad could use a hand.”

Petty was stunned for a moment.

So what he’d said outside her apartment had been real. He really didn’t want to be a doctor anymore?

As Petty was about to step out, she almost ran right into Franco. He stood at the front of the elevator, dressed in a sharp black suit, his expression cold and distant.

Their eyes met, and something in Franco’s gaze turned even darker.

All at once, memories from last night on Misty Vale’s quiet avenue rushed back, filling Petty’s chest with a strange mix of pain and longing.

She quickly broke eye contact and left the elevator with the others.

After walking a few steps, she heard a cough behind her.

That sound...

It was Malcom. She recognized his cough instantly.
