The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 407

Her mind went blank as her body instinctively recoiled, her back pressing against the seat. His handsome face loomed closer without warning, and then his lips were on hers.

Vivica was stunned. Her beautiful eyes flew open, darting back and forth in a flutter of nerves and shyness.

“Joseph, you…”

She tried to speak, but he cut her off with a firm, low command. “Close your eyes.”

Vivica immediately did as she was told.

For such a stern and serious man, his lips were incredibly soft and gentle. The light touch felt electric, sending a shiver through her heart. This was their first real, passionate kiss in public—the brief pecks they shared before parting ways didn't count.

They weren't in a private, sealed-off space. They were in a busy commercial parking garage where someone could walk by at any moment. Vivica had always thought that a man like Joseph, so meticulous and reserved, would never do something so out of character.

But here he was.

The tender entanglement of their kiss made her heart pound like a drum. She had no idea where to put her hands, finally settling for gripping the front of his shirt, feeling the steady, strong beat of his heart beneath her fingers.

Before this, their kisses had always been a prelude to making love, a means to an end for conceiving a child. For him to kiss her now, so unexpectedly, sent her mind racing with wild thoughts.

*Oh no, he doesn't want to… right here in the car, does he?*

The thought instantly killed the mood. She turned her head slightly, a small act of resistance.

Joseph stopped immediately but didn’t pull away, their faces still inches apart. “Did I hurt you?” he asked, his voice a soft, lingering whisper.

Vivica’s eyes fluttered, looking moist and vulnerable. “No… I just… we’re out in the open. It doesn’t feel right.”

But could a man as serious and proper as him really be driven by physical desire? Would he really do something so impulsive?

Noticing her lack of cooperation, Joseph took a quiet breath, suppressing the rising tide of passion within him, and pulled back. Straightening up in his seat, he said out of the blue, “That dessert really was delicious.”

Vivica knew exactly what he meant. Her cheeks flushed an even deeper red as she stammered, “Well… do you want to take the boxed one back to your office?”

“No need.”

He refused instantly. As he started the engine and turned the steering wheel, a smile played on his lips. “You keep it. I already got something sweet.”

Vivica was speechless.

The car was quiet, but a thick, sweet intimacy lingered in the air long after they left the underground garage and drove into the bright sunlight.
