The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 406

Vivica looked at him. “Why are you so determined to have me try all these different cuisines?”

“Don’t you like it?” Joseph countered. He wasn’t sure why himself, but he felt an urge to give her all the best things the world had to offer—the best food, the best experiences, the best clothes, the most beautiful sights.

“I do,” Vivica shook her head. “This place is actually amazing; it definitely deserves its Michelin star. It’s just… it feels too formal, with all the rules. I don’t know them…”

And she was afraid of embarrassing him.

“As long as the food is good, that’s all that matters.”

“Okay.”

By the time dessert arrived, Vivica was already full. But the dessert was so delicious that she kept eating, muttering about how stuffed she was with every bite.

Joseph watched her, his eyes filled with a tenderness he wasn’t even aware of. “If you like it so much, you can have mine, too.”

“No, I really can’t eat another bite,” she said, waving her hands in refusal.

Since Joseph didn’t care for sweets, he asked the waiter to box it up. “You can take it back to the office for an afternoon snack with your coffee.”

Vivica agreed, but the thought resurfaced in her mind: *What’s gotten into him today?* He was being exceptionally good to her, so good that it made her wonder if she had some terminal illness she didn’t know about.

“Oh, by the way, I wanted to ask you something,” Vivica said, remembering as she dabbed her mouth with a napkin after finishing her dessert.

“What is it?”

“Two-thirty,” she said, finding the question odd since he already knew her schedule.

“Right. I was just making sure. We have plenty of time, then.”

It was only a ten-minute drive from the restaurant to her office, and it was currently five past two. That meant they had another ten minutes to do… something else.

At first, Vivica didn't understand the implication of his question. It was only when they got back to the car and Joseph sat there silently, as if steeling himself for something instead of starting the engine, that she sensed something was off.

“Why aren’t you…” she began, turning to ask him why he wasn't driving. But before she could finish, he seemed to make a decision, turning and leaning toward her.

It hit her in a flash. He had asked about her work schedule to calculate if they had time to kiss.
