No one was happier about Joseph and Vivica’s marriage than Sheridan and Melanie. For years, they had worried endlessly about their eldest son’s marital status.
But Joseph had been strong-willed since childhood, with an unyielding personality. This was evident when he abandoned the sprawling family business to carve his own path in the legal world, making a name for himself in just a few short years. He only ever walked the path he chose, never accepting the plans others made for him, not even his own parents.
So, despite their anxiety, Sheridan and Melanie never dared to pressure him openly. On the rare occasion they cautiously suggested he meet a young lady from a good family, it all depended on his mood. If he was in a good mood, he’d grant them a meeting that lasted a few minutes. If not, he’d simply stand them up.
It wasn't that he lacked manners; his upbringing was better than anyone's. He just chose when and where to display it.
For Sheridan and Melanie, what had seemed like a lost cause had suddenly taken a miraculous turn. He was married, and in a flash at that. It was as if a massive weight had been lifted from their shoulders.

Melanie smiled elegantly. "A wedding gift for you, my dear."
Vivica was speechless.
"Due to the special circumstances, we weren't able to have a proper wedding for you two," Melanie explained. "So, this is just a small token. If you want cash, you can exchange them at the bank—the receipts are right underneath. If you'd prefer to keep them as an investment, you can lock them in a safe. In any case, they're yours now. Do with them as you please."
"No, this is far too much! I can take two, just as a token of your kindness, that's enough," Vivica said, waving her hands in protest, completely overwhelmed.
She was already well-acquainted with the Baird family's generosity. Sheridan and Melanie had previously gifted her a mountain of designer jewelry and bags. They were just as generous with Chaim, even giving him a family heirloom.
Before and after marrying Joseph, he too had been incredibly generous, handing her a credit card and telling her to spend as she pleased. And now, they were presenting her with gold bars worth millions…
