The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 341

“We don’t have to rush too much,” Joseph said, seeing the worry on her face. “I spoke with Dr. Warren. With the current treatments, even if we can’t find a cure for Chaim right away, we can manage his condition for another two or three years.”

“I know, but there’s a difference between just being alive and having a good quality of life.”

As a mother watching her young child battle a serious illness, her anguish was immeasurable. “Besides, Chaim is so young. Long-term chemotherapy will affect his development. I’m afraid that if this drags on, we might cure the leukemia only to find that his body has been damaged in other ways.”

Joseph’s expression grew somber. “That’s a valid concern. The sooner we can do the transplant, the better. But without a successful match, all we can do is wait,” he said, his voice low.

A heavy silence fell between them.

Vivica didn’t speak, but a thought crossed her mind: Why was he only his uncle? If only he were his biological father. If that were the case, the child they had together would have a much higher chance of being a match.

They took the elevator down and walked out of the inpatient wing. As they were about to cross the small garden, a sharp voice cut through the evening crowd.

“Vivica!”

Startled, they both spun around. A figure was pushing aggressively through the people, heading straight for them.

As the person drew closer, Vivica’s eyes widened in disbelief. It was Evelyn.

“What is she doing at the hospital?” she breathed. She had just tried calling, only to run into her moments later.

Evelyn was wearing a black puffer jacket and her hair was carelessly tied back. She was limping.

When she finally reached them, they could see that her face was bruised.
