The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 314

Vivica reached into the shopping bag and her eyes widened in shock. “Did you… buy out the whole aisle? Why so many?”

Joseph turned and walked over to the coat rack, shrugging off his overcoat. “I didn’t know which kind you usually use,” he said nonchalantly.

As Vivica sorted through the packages, she figured she was set for at least three months. She couldn’t resist teasing him. “I’ve heard of tycoons buying out restaurants or entire buildings for the women they love… but you’ve pioneered a new field: cornering the market on sanitary pads.”

Joseph spun around, his face an indescribable shade of dark. Seeing his reaction, Vivica immediately shrank back and apologized profusely. “I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. Thank you, Mr. Baird, for deigning to run such an errand for me.”

After her fawning praise, she grabbed a pack of soft regular pads and disappeared into the bathroom.

Joseph stood there, a knot of frustration still tight in his chest. No man would be happy in this situation. He had been right on the edge, only to have a bucket of ice water thrown on him. And that ice water was set to last for several days.

He hung his head, stewing in his gloom for a few seconds before heading into the walk-in closet. He pulled out a suitcase from a cabinet and began packing his clothes.

When Vivica came out of the bathroom, the bedroom was empty, but she heard movement from the closet and went to investigate.

“Let me help you pack,” she offered, seeing him neatly folding his clothes and placing them in the suitcase.

As she was about to kneel down, he held up a hand to stop her. “Don’t worry about it. You go lie down. I’ll leave as soon as I’m done.”

“I’m fine, really. It’s just a minor thing,” Vivica insisted.

“I don’t need your help. Go lie down,” he ordered firmly. He remembered her last period had also been painful, requiring her to rest in bed.
