The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 274

Vivica gave a wry, self-deprecating smile. “I was young and blinded by love. I didn’t know any better.”

“You, an engineer, blinded by love? That’s a rare combination,” Holly quipped as they stepped into the elevator to head down for breakfast.

The second day of the trip was consumed by technical problem-solving. Although Vivica was still an intern, her professional knowledge was solid, and she had continued studying even during her years at home. She offered effective solutions several times, earning thumbs-up from the rest of the team. She felt a private surge of happiness, knowing she hadn't been left behind by the industry and could still earn the respect of her peers.

During her lunch break, Vivica finally had a moment to check her phone. There were no new messages from Joseph.

She wasn’t sure when it had started, but she found herself quietly anticipating his texts, like a secret hope for a sunset rendezvous.

Since he hadn't messaged, he must still be busy. She decided not to disturb him.

She exchanged a few messages with Melanie, who sent a video of Chaim having a meal. The little boy was sitting on his grandfather’s lap, and the two were clinking their cups together like old friends, both of them beaming with joy.

It was clear that the sudden arrival of their grandson was helping the elderly couple gradually move past the pain of losing their other son, and their spirits were slowly recovering.

Quintina had sent a few voice messages on WhatsApp. After converting them to text, Vivica read through her friend's latest rant about a bizarre colleague in her department.

“If I could just meet a Prince Charming who would shower me with money, I swear I’d quit this job in a heartbeat and become a stay-at-home mom. What’s wrong with her? This woman always wants to switch shifts for the weekend, making me cover for her. Just because I’m single, I’m not allowed to have a weekend? If I say no, she plays the victim and tries to guilt-trip me. She’s such a two-faced manipulator!”

Vivica could only offer words of comfort. Even if such a Prince Charming did appear, she advised, a woman should never give up her career. It was essential to have your own work and the ability to earn your own money. Relying on someone else was never easy.

Her words seemed to calm Quintina down. The truth was, modern women understood the importance of work and financial independence. No matter how tiring their jobs were, they would complain for a bit and then get right back to striving.
