Joseph scoffed at his phone. Give her a little praise and it goes straight to her head.
Vivica stared at the sticker, a little stunned. A man as serious and imposing as Joseph actually used stickers. It was so out of character.
Besides, he’d explicitly said he hated texting, preferring a direct phone call to get straight to the point. She had no idea what had gotten into him today. This back-and-forth was surprisingly lively and didn't fit his persona at all.
The chat suddenly went quiet. Lost in thought, Vivica subconsciously scrolled up, rereading their conversation. She didn't even notice the smile playing on her lips or the sparkle in her eyes as she read.
Her colleague Holly turned to say something, but stopped when she saw Vivica grinning at her phone and nudged her with an elbow.
"Vivica, what are you smiling about?" Holly asked curiously.
Snapping back to reality, Vivica quickly put her phone down. "Oh, nothing. Just chatting with a friend."
"Is your friend a lawyer?" Holly asked, having accidentally glanced at the screen. Vivica had Joseph saved as "Lawyer: Mr. Baird" in both her contacts and on WhatsApp.
Not wanting to get into personal details, Vivica just nodded. "Yes."
Her WhatsApp pinged again, but she didn't pick it up.
Holly continued to pry. "The way you were smiling, I thought you'd already found someone new right after your divorce."
At that, Raymond, who was sitting in the row ahead of them, turned around. "Ms. Lynn, you're divorced?"
Holly froze, quickly covering her mouth and looking at Vivica apologetically. "Vivica, I'm so sorry... I shouldn't have said that."
