The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 254

"Sort of… I used to have Daddy's last name, and now I have Mommy's. Is it because Daddy doesn't want me anymore, so I can't use his name?" Chaim asked, trying to piece it together.

Vivica walked over to her son and knelt, gently stroking his cheek. "Sweetheart, if you still want him to be your daddy, then he is. If you don't, then he isn't."

Chaim, ever the soft-hearted boy, lowered his gaze and thought for a moment. "Daddy is pretty pathetic, but he's the one who left us first. So I don't want him either. I'll use Mommy's last name."

For someone so young, he already had a clear sense of right and wrong.

Vivica hugged him. "You're such a good boy. Let's go home."

She glanced at Joseph, her expression still flustered, her eyes unable to settle on one spot. As her gaze drifted downwards, it inadvertently passed over his lap again. He was still…

Her eyes shot away as if she'd touched a hot stove. "Um… you should get back to work. We're going home now."

Without waiting for a response, she turned and hurried away, carrying her son.

Chaim, perched on his mother's back, waved his little hand politely. "Bye-bye, Uncle Joseph!"

Joseph waved back at the boy.

A moment after they left, Roderic entered the room.

"Sir, is something wrong with Ms. Lynn? I said hello, but she didn't even acknowledge me. She just rushed off," Roderic asked curiously.

Joseph gave a faint, knowing smile. "She was embarrassed. What else could it be?"

"Embarrassed?" Roderic was surprised for a moment, then his expression cleared with understanding. "It seems Ms. Lynn is finding it harder and harder to resist you, sir."

"Flattery won't get you a bonus," Joseph said, draping his coat over his arm as he walked out of the private room.
