The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 227

“Hmm,” he murmured, his voice calm and low. “Good suggestion. Why don’t you buy it, and we can study it together? Wouldn’t want someone to rip your mouth off one day, either.”

He was implying, of course, that her words were just as venomous.

“I’m not normally like this. You provoke me.”

“Then you should thank me for bringing out this other side of you, for helping you get to know yourself more fully.”

Vivica was rendered speechless.

Fearing that continuing the conversation would lead to an argument and wake the child, she finally surrendered. “Just go to sleep. Pretend I’m not here.”

In the dim light, she thought she saw him smirk before his eyes closed once more.

Vivica turned and walked to the other bed, sinking into the mattress. The long, exhausting day was finally over. She let out a deep sigh and closed her eyes.

After some time had passed in the quiet room, the man’s deep, steady voice broke the silence again. “So, have you thought about my offer?”

Vivica didn’t open her eyes, but her eyeballs darted beneath her lids. Didn’t he say he’d give her three days to think? It had barely been a few hours, and he was already asking for a decision. She took a deep breath and decided to ignore him, feigning sleep.

“Having a child with me wouldn’t be a bad deal for you,” Joseph continued, his voice persuasive.

Vivica was already wavering—if only to save her son—but she stubbornly retorted, “I don’t need the money.”

“You can never have too much money.”

“And you can never talk too little.”

Joseph fell silent.
