The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 178

"At the end of the day, we're all family now," Melanie said, her good mood restored. "That means Joseph was right to help you. From now on, if there's anything you need, don't hesitate to ask him. Don't be a stranger."

Vivica smiled and nodded, carefully avoiding Joseph's gaze.

"Alright, now that everything's cleared up, where's Chaim?" Sheridan asked, impatient to see his grandson again. "Bring him over. From now on, he can stay with us. We'll take care of him."

"I'll go get him," Vivica said, standing up.

Joseph, his injury preventing him from moving easily, remained seated.

After Vivica left, the room was quiet for a moment, occupied only by the three Bairds. Melanie turned to her son, her question blunt. "What was that all about? Why did you stop me? Do you not like Vivica? Do you have a problem with her being divorced?"

Joseph's expression was unreadable. "Mom, a relationship has to be mutual. You don't even know how she feels. Besides, she just got divorced. She hasn't even had time to recover from a failed marriage. Do you really think now is the right time to bring that up?"

Melanie considered his words and nodded. "You have a point. I suppose I was being a bit hasty. But I truly do like that girl. And now that I know Chaim is our grandson, I just thought… it would be wonderful to make it official."

Joseph didn't reply. But as he thought about it, if he were ever to get married, Vivica would indeed be an excellent choice. She was kind, educated, capable, and beautiful. But most importantly, he was drawn to her.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," Sheridan interjected, raising a hand. "First things first, we need to think about what to get our grandson as a welcome gift. He is, after all, the eldest grandson of the Baird family!"

"Oh, you're right! We absolutely do," Melanie agreed, her excitement returning at the prospect.

In the adjacent room, Vivica thanked Roderic and waited for him to leave before sitting down and taking her son's small hand in hers.

Chaim looked up at her, his big eyes blinking. "Mommy, you didn't fight with Sheridan and Melanie, did you?"

Vivica smiled. "Of course not. We just had a talk to clear up some misunderstandings. And Chaim, from now on, you don't have to call them Sheridan and Melanie anymore."

"What should I call them?"

"You can call them Grandpa and Grandma."

"What's the difference?"

"It makes a big difference. You'll understand when you're older."
