Chapter 573 Under the Stars
So all the expectations had been placed on Maxwell’s shoulders.
He was carrying tons of hope, trudging forward under the weight.
Right now, they were all quietly working hard for Nygard Group, hoping to prove themselves through honest effort and show their sister that they had changed.
For this team-building event, they simply couldn’t contain their restless hearts. They wanted to show her how much they cared and were still hoping for her forgiveness.
So even if he was being treated coldly and pushed aside, he accepted it.
Bring it on-let the rejection hit even harder.
When he got back, he would make sure Marcelo and Miguel felt it too. They could all huddle together and cry their eyes
eyes out.
“Amelia, Mom made this oxtail soup especially for you. She said you’ve gotten thinner and need some nourishment.”
Maxwell acted like he hadn’t heard their dismissive words at all. With genuine care and enthusiasm, he opened the thermos he had brought and ladled out a full bowl of the lovingly prepared soup for Amelia.
“No thanks. I drink soup every day. I don’t feel like having any today.” She rejected him without hesitation once again.
“I make soup for Amelia whenever I have time. When she visits the Curran Estate on weekends, there’s always a variety of soups waiting for her. So she really doesn’t need this one.”
Jeremy’s meaning was crystal clear-he and the entire Currans treated Amelia incredibly well.
A thousand times better than the Nygards ever had.
“Uh, okay then. I’ll just leave it here. You can have it whenever you want.”
Maxwell smiled awkwardly, feeling a bit embarrassed and self-conscious.
He placed the thermos on the stone table beside Amelia, his fingers unconsciously rubbing against the cool surface of the container.
A flash of barely noticeable disappointment crossed his eyes, but it was quickly masked by forced optimism.
The glances from colleagues around them-some sympathetic, some watching for
entertainment-pricked at him like tiny needles, but he still kept his back straight, trying not to look too pathetic.
After all, before coming here, he had pounded his chest in front of Marcelo and Miguel, promising that he would definitely make their sister feel their sincerity.
Now it seemed this road was a hundred times harder than he had imagined.
Oh no, now he had to add their mother to that list too.
Their mother wasn’t exactly welcomed either.
Looks like tonight’s group crying session in the bathroom wouldn’t just be the three brothers
anymore.
They would have to add their mother to the mix.
At least the road to winning back his sister wasn’t lonely.
Amelia didn’t say to describe.
another word to him the entire time. Her feelings were complicated and hard
But with Jeremy feeding her and flirting with her constantly, she naturally didn’t have the bandwidth to deal with those complicated emotions.
Maxwell being ignored didn’t really affect everyone else’s mood.
The group continued chatting happily and having a great time.
Although Maxwell wasn’t exactly welcomed by their little circle, he was still one of the Nygards’ heirs after all. Plenty of employees were happy to chat with him.
So it wasn’t like he was completely ignored.
Night fell.
Out here in this remote area far from the city, the night sky was absolutely breathtaking.
Stars blanketed the sky, stretching endlessly across the horizon.
Lying on the grass and gazing up at that infinite expanse of stars-it was truly a soul-refreshing feeling.
Amelia leaned against Jeremy’s shoulder, feeling the warmth of his body and the steady rhythm

of his heartbeat. The fresh scent of grass and earth lingered in the air.
Jeremy had one arm wrapped around her waist as the two of them whispered softly to each
other.
Not far away, other employees had gathered in small groups-some chatting softly, some simply enjoying the view. Occasionally, a burst of clear laughter would ring out.
