The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy) novel Chapter 533

Chapter 533 I Won’t Cross Any Lines

But since the person was gone, it still made people feel a bit sad.

“Yeah, what could happen to me? I’m fine,” Amelia said calmly, picking up the glass of water from the coffee table and taking a sip.

“I’m actually planning to stop by the Nygard Group later. I’m sure there’s a lot to take care of.”

“What are you going over there for?” Jeremy asked.

“Mr. Nygard passed away, and the Nygard Group’s stock is starting to fluctuate. That’s my grandpa’s life’s work. I’m not about to let anything happen to it.”

Jeremy asked again, “Just for the Nygard Group? Raymond doesn’t matter?”

“Yeah, we’re already cut off,” she said, lifting the glass again to drink.

“Amelia, your glass is empty. You don’t need to pretend to drink,” Jeremy couldn’t help but remind her.

Amelia was startled.

She froze for a moment, feeling a little embarrassed.

In a flash, she jumped up and grabbed the glass, heading to the kitchen to refill it.

“Amelia, it’s spilling,” Jeremy said.

He watched her pour with such concentration, but the water kept overflowing, and she didn’t seem to notice.

Luckily, it wasn’t hot. Otherwise, he’d be worried sick if she got burned.

Jeremy sighed, took the glass from her, and then gently pulled her into his arms, holding her tight.

“Silly girl, if you feel upset, just say it. It’s okay to cry. No need to hide it inside.

“Even though you’re frustrated, hurt, and disappointed with him, he never really hurt you. And he’s not like your other brothers, always picking favorites and fighting with each other.

“On the contrary, you had happy memories with him. It’s normal to feel sad when someone suddenly passes away.”

Amelia had to admit-every word he said hit right in the heart.

Her body stiffened, and her hand at her side unconsciously clenched the corner of her shirt.

Her eyes burned, and she could feel uncontrollable tears sliding down her cheeks.

But she acted as if she didn’t notice, just letting Jeremy hold her.

His scent was clean, with a faint hint of cedar, and it made her tense nerves relax a little.

All this time, she had thought she could handle every emotion, carry every burden, and act as if nothing mattered.

But in front of him, all that tough, made-up strength seemed to shatter. And somehow, he could soothe every part of her.

She was actually crying over that so-called father of hers, feeling sadness and hurt over him.

Before, she had believed that even if Raymond had died or fallen into ruin, she would never shed a single tear.

But now that he was gone, all grudges and resentments felt like they had vanished with the wind.

Thinking back carefully, Raymond had never really singled her out or treated her badly on purpose. He had just been too busy to care.

On the other hand, Amelia felt that sometimes, he had actually been quietly helping her.

This was especially true after she discovered his relationship with Regina and understood that it had all been a forced act. She noticed the whole thing didn’t quite add up.

Her father, a man full of secrets, seemed very different from what she had imagined.

And now, following his sudden death, new hidden dangers began to surface around her.

After some time, Amelia sat up straight and said softly, “I’m okay now. Don’t worry.”

Her voice still carried a hint of sniffles.

“Okay, no matter what, I’ll be here with you,” Jeremy said.

He gently patted her back, soothing her like he was calming a child.

Moments like this made her notice his kindness even more.

It made her like him even more.
