Chapter 528 The Guilty Feeling
The more Miguel thought about it, the more he felt like he couldn’t breathe. The more he thought, the more he felt that the three brothers were nothing but a joke.
Marcelo realized it early and stopped dealing with Gianna.
Back then, he couldn’t understand it and even blamed Amelia, thinking she had brainwashed
Marcelo.
Now he felt that he couldn’t face Amelia at all.
What was laughable was that in the end, his life was saved by this same sister he had blamed.
It was truly ironic. He truly felt worse than an animal, not even worthy of being human.
Sometimes he really thought it would be better to just die.
Raymond said, “It’s good that you can see things clearly now. Even though it’s late, it’s still better than realizing how foolish you were at the moment you die.”
Raymond patted his son on the shoulder. “Rest well. Only after your body heals will you have the chance to go and ask Amelia for forgiveness.”
After saying this, he turned and left Miguel’s ward.
Raymond knew he had failed to manage the Nygards and stop all these tragedies. He had no right to punish his son on his daughter’s behalf.
At least they still had a chance to make amends.
Raymond smiled bitterly. He feared that he himself no longer had such a chance.
After that, he went to Emery’s ward.
The moment he walked in, he saw her lying there with her eyes wide open, staring blankly at the ceiling.
The sight made his heart ache.
Even though he couldn’t fully feel her pain, someone who had lived in comfort all her life was now forced to lie in bed and stare at the ceiling every day.
Such a huge rise and fall would break anyone.
She still couldn’t speak clearly and could only say a few simple daily words.

She couldn’t sit up yet either and needed more time to recover.
Emery had her own pride and dignity. If she couldn’t speak clearly, she chose not to speak at all, afraid of embarrassing herself.
“Emery, how are you feeling? Any better?” Raymond asked softly.
She heard him, but she didn’t want to respond.
When he held her hand, she wanted to pull away at once, but she didn’t have the strength.
He said, “I know you’re breaking down inside. I know this hurts. But about Gianna not being my biological daughter-you should have heard it from Marcelo and Maxwell already, right?
“You probably feel that even if she’s not my daughter, the past between Regina and me still makes you sick and unable to accept it, right?
“Whether you believe me or not, I still have to explain. Nothing ever happened between me and that woman. I never loved her.”
Back then, they really had been each other’s first love. But that first love was never something beautiful.
Because not long after they got together, he realized Regina was two-faced.
But he never expected that years later, their lives would become tangled again like this.
Emery still lay on the bed, her eyes dull and empty, looking lost and pitiful.
Raymond continued, “And one more thing. Miguel is fine now. Amelia saved him. He’s recovering. Both you and she will get better too, so don’t worry.”
After he said this, a small change finally appeared in Emery’s dead, silent eyes.
Her eyes grew a little wet. It was hard to tell if they were tears of relief or deep worry.
Raymond added, “I know you still blame yourself. You blame yourself for being fooled by Gianna and for failing Amelia.
“I feel the same way. We both owe her too much. We don’t even have the right to take her back as our daughter and ask her to call us Mom and Dad again.”
As he said this, Raymond finally felt it deep in his heart. He truly understood her pain, and his eyes slowly turned red.
His voice was hoarse, yet he forced himself to hold back his emotions.
