Sure enough, Bridget didn’t come alone. She even brought backup with her.
“Jeremy, where did you all go? I brought Sabrina with me to see you,” Bridget said as soon as she arrived.
The moment she finished speaking, Jeremy’s mood dropped. He replied without hesitation, his tone cold and direct, “I don’t want to see her. We’re not close.”
His words made Sabrina’s face turn pale. A flicker of displeasure rose in her eyes.
She had been dragged here by Bridget. It wasn’t like she came on her own.
“I came to check on Floyd,” Sabrina quickly explained. “Grandma asked me to look after him. She was worried he might not be adjusting well.”
She didn’t want anyone to think she had come on purpose to see Jeremy, so she clarified right away.
“Don’t worry,” Whitney said cheerfully, thinking Sabrina was simply concerned about her younger brother. “Floyd is doing great here. He smiles a lot more now and even talks on his own.”
Sabrina finally noticed something unusual.
O
Floyd was wearing colored contact lenses.
With them on, his eyes-once one blue and one red-now looked completely normal.
She frowned without thinking.
That small frown startled Floyd. He instinctively stepped back a few paces, clearly afraid to get close to her.
Amelia, sharp and observant, noticed the scene at once.
Just as she thought, Sabrina wasn’t as simple as she looked.
They were siblings, yet they felt oddly distant.
Not only that, Floyd looked genuinely scared when he saw his sister.
Amelia had already noticed this detail the last time they visited.
Now, it was even more obvious.
Why was that?
Could it be that the person who made Floyd like this way his sister?
Was Sabrina afraid he might take her place in the family, so she secretly did something to him?
Amelia didn’t believe things were that simple. There had to be more she didn’t know yet.
“Come on, let’s go inside and talk,” Whitney urged impatiently.

Chapter 480 Too Much to Handle
She could hardly wait to see her son show off his skills in the kitchen.

Well, more accurately, she wanted her future daughter-in-law to see just how capable her future husband really was.
They went inside first. Soon after, the driver who had been sent to the market returned.
The butler led the servants as they worked hard, carrying piles of groceries toward the main kitchen.
Only a small portion of the ingredients Jeremy had personally chosen were sent to the open kitchen instead.
“Oh my goodness!” Bridget exclaimed in shock. “What on earth is going on? Why did you buy this much food?”
When Bridget saw truck after truck delivering ingredients back to the house, even she-someone who had seen it all-was stunned.
No matter how big the house was, no matter how many rooms it had, this was still too much.
Was he planning to invite the whole city over for dinner?
“Bridget, you don’t get it,”.Whitney said with a laugh. “Those neighbors and vendors were way too good at talking. Jeremy got happy and ended up buying more than usual.”
Whitney didn’t blame Bridget for being out of the loop. After all, she hadn’t seen how lively and cheerful things had been at the market.
So it wasn’t really her fault.
“But still, this is way too much,” Bridget complained. “Honestly. You spend all day at work. You’ve probably never even been to a market. You have no sense of limits.”
She kept grumbling, rolling her eyes so hard they almost reached the ceiling.
“Bridget, you haven’t been too,” Whitney shot back confidently.
At least she had been to the market twice now. And not just any market-the most down-to-earth one you could find.
Bridget, though! She bet this old lady had never gone for once. Hmm.
Whitney didn’t bother arguing any further. She hurried straight inside, eager to see her son show off his
skills.
As soon as she entered, she saw Jeremy already busy in the kitchen.
