The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy) novel Chapter 465

Chapter 465 Gifted Child

Amelia studied Floyd’s drawings and his schoolwork. Every piece was top level.

He wasn’t even ten, but he could finish complex art pieces and score full marks on advanced math problems.

This wasn’t something hard work alone could explain.

Talent was required. No, this level needed exceptional talent.

If not for his emotional struggles and weak health, this child could have become a top-tier prodigy with proper guidance.

Amelia felt no joy at all. Instead, she felt uneasy and had a lot of questions.

She walked over to Floyd, gently took one of his hands, and checked his pulse. Then she asked him a few questions about his health.

“Floyd,” she said softly, “tell me honestly. When no one is around, has anyone ever hurt you?

“For example, hitting you, threatening you, or doing things like sticking needles in you or drawing blood?”

The moment she asked, Floyd’s happy face turned pale.

He shook his head hard. “No. Nothing like that,” he signed quickly.

“Are you sure?” Amelia asked gently. “You can tell me. I’ll keep it a secret. I won’t tell anyone, and I’ll protect you.”

He was still just a child. From his reaction alone, it was clear he was hiding something.

“N-No,” Floyd said again. “Don’t worry, Ms. Pretty.”

The boy worried she might not believe him; he forced himself to speak out loud.

His voice was very soft, almost like a whisper, but it was clear and pleasant.

I can talk, but I absolutely can’t say anything.

That was what they warned him.

They had told him that his parents were killed by them. If he didn’t want the people he loved most to die too, he wasn’t allowed to say a single word.

Floyd remembered those threats. He also remembered overhearing Cora and Nydia secretly investigating his parents’ deaths.

Slowly, he realized his parents hadn’t died in a normal accident.

He didn’t want his family to get hurt. And he definitely didn’t want Amelia to die.

So no matter what, Floyd won’t reveal anything.

Not even to Amelia.

“Alright,” Amelia said at last. She didn’t push him further.

He could speak and understood everything, but he was too afraid to say anything.

That meant he had been threatened.

“Hey, brat,” Jeremy suddenly spoke up, clearly tired of being ignored. “I’m thirsty and hungry. Go get me something to eat and drink, or I’ll take Ms. Pretty away.”

“Okay,” Floyd replied quickly.

Afraid Jeremy might really take Amelia away, Floyd obediently left the room to prepare food and drinks for Jeremy.

When Amelia saw that he had sent everyone away, she knew exactly what he wanted to ask.

“What is it?” she said quietly. “Is there something wrong with that kid?”

“Yes,” he replied. “The first time I saw him, he already felt off. I just didn’t have the chance to check him carefully back then.”

Amelia nodded and spoke honestly about her thoughts.

At the academic conference before, she had noticed that Regina seemed connected to the Jordans. That alone had raised her suspicions.

What stood out even more was how Regina treated Sabrina. There was something about it that felt strange and unnatural.

Now, with Floyd in this condition, it was even clearer. Someone had done something to him behind the scenes, but the boy dared not say it out loud.

All these clues together made Amelia want to dig deeper into the Jordans.

“You think this kid might be linked to that organization?” Jeremy asked at once.

He had already guessed part of it.

“I’m not sure,” Amelia said. “It’s just a guess. But his symptoms and reactions really do look similar.

“And this child is extremely gifted,” she added. “If those people knew about him, do you really think they would let him go?”

That secret organization loved targeting children with rare talent. They showed no mercy. They used children’s bodies for experiments.
