Zachary looked at Sophia, his eyes soft and calm. "I remember everything you said."
Samantha's eyes turned red as she watched the scene unfold, and she struggled to hold back her tears. After a long moment, she finally spoke again.
"I have no objections. I'll give all of my assets to the couple as a wedding gift. But I have one request."
"Please tell us, Samantha," Luna quickly responded, affectionately addressing Samantha by her first name.
"After Sophia gets married, I want to move in with them. I'll be part of the wedding gifts too."
"That's no problem!" Luna laughed. "Zachary, after you get married, your mother-in-law will live with you. You have no objections, right?"
Zachary shook his head. "Of course not. Even if you didn't ask, I would have invited you to live with us."
"Then, I have nothing more to say." Samantha smiled. "As for the wedding, let the couple themselves decide. But Sophia mentioned she wants it to be simple. Is your side agreeable?"
After all, the Holt family and the Sinclair family were different.
The Holt family had many business partners, and their relatives weren't like those on the Sinclair side. Zachary, as the eldest son of the Holt family and heir to Holt Group, should typically have a grand wedding. It wouldn't look good otherwise.
But with Sophia's past, forcing her into a significant event in front of so many people worried Samantha. She feared Sophia might not be able to handle it.
"That's no problem," Luna said with a smile. "I still have a younger son, Zane. Speaking of him, I do have to apologize to you. I lost a bet and let Julia take advantage of the situation, leading Zane to date Ruby for a while.
"But fortunately, Zane was sensible and didn't make any mistakes because of Ruby."
At the mention of Ruby, Samantha's expression darkened slightly. But to be fair, Zane had never hurt Sophia or any other innocent people.
Samantha couldn't blame him, much less let that affect Zachary and Sophia's marriage.
"The past is the past now. Let's not bring it up anymore," Edmund said. "Today, we're here to talk about Zachary and Sophia's marriage. As for the wedding, let's go with what Sophia wants."
"Zane will be having a grand wedding eventually anyway." Zachary held Sophia's hand. "We can get the marriage certificate first, then hold a banquet to celebrate. Afterward, I plan to take some time off and take Sophia on a honeymoon trip.
"Dad, Mom, you have no objections, right?"
Edmund and Luna quickly shook their heads. "No objections at all. You two can make your own decision."
"Alright, it's settled."
"Mother, can I take Sophia to get the marriage certificate now?" Zachary looked at Samantha, officially changing how he addressed her.
Samantha froze for a moment, then quickly nodded. "As long as Sophia is willing, I have no objections.
"Sophia, do you want to go?"
Sophia hesitated for a moment, then slowly nodded. "Yes."
"I'll get your documents."
Samantha got up and quickly returned with the documents Sophia needed to register the marriage.
"Sophia, go ahead! Pursue your happiness bravely." Samantha's eyes turned red again. "I support you."
"Thank you, Mom."
Sophia hugged Samantha, then turned to Zachary, holding the documents in her hands.
"Zachary, let's go."
"Alright." Zachary took her hand and said goodbye to the elders before the two of them left the Sinclair residence.
On the drive to the courthouse, Zachary kept stealing glances at Sophia.
Noticing his gaze, Sophia couldn't help but curve her lips into a smile.
"What is it? Why do you keep sneaking looks at me?"
