Lynette held back her tears and looked directly at her father, Maverick, the once-authoritative village head.

"Father, the three of us have agreed. If you want money, we'll give it to you. But it comes with one condition—we cut ties completely.

"We don't even want to argue anymore about how you treat your children differently. We only know one thing—demanding 30,000 dollars from Natalie and even asking her to find wives for your sons is completely unreasonable."

Lynette gritted her teeth and spoke slowly and clearly. "Your own daughter wants to go to school, and you expect someone else to pay for it?"

"If you still want the girls of Ashford Vale to go to school, then pay up. One girl, 10,000 dollars. And help our sons find wives. Otherwise, get out, and leave behind one million dollars before you go."

His demands were nothing short of outrageous. The earlier demand of 10,000 dollars per girl was already a sky-high figure in this area.
