Lilly looked puzzled. “Take a look? Take a look at what?”
David and Ella both stood up. Ella’s smile was sly. “Just come with us, Lilly. You’ll see.”
David reached for Ella’s hand and led her out of the room. Lilly rushed after them, calling, “Wait for me!”
…
Jessa sped through traffic to Briarwood Estate. This was where Louise lived now.
After leaving the Wade family house, Louise had moved in here. Briarwood Estate was a gift from Moss. The place was famous for its luxury, with mansions lined up on every street and prices high enough to make anyone dizzy.
Jessa slammed the doorbell, pressing it over and over. She was too anxious to care about manners.
A maid hurried to open the door. “Alright, alright, I’m coming. Who’s in such a… Ms. Wade!”
The maid recognized her at once and straightened up, looking nervous.
Jessa didn’t wait for pleasantries. She stepped inside. “Where’s Louise?”
She headed toward the living room, but Louise wasn’t there. “Where is she? Upstairs? I’m going to check.”
The maid quickly blocked her path. “Ms. Wade, she is upstairs, taking a milk bath. She said she didn’t want anyone to disturb her, so… so…”
Jessa’s eyes narrowed. “So what? I’m not allowed up?”
The maid dropped her gaze, silent.
Jessa felt her frustration boiling over. Everything was already a mess, and Louise was here living her best life, soaking in fancy baths.
Moss really did spoil Louise. She got whatever she wanted. Even after leaving the Wade mansion, she landed in this villa with maids waiting on her all day. She was living in pure comfort.
