The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 759

Ella looked at David. “You want to get married today?”

David propped himself up, grinning. “Yeah. After last night, you pretty much wore me out. Don’t you think you should take care of me, Ella?”

She stared at him, incredulous. She wore him out? He was the one who acted like he’d lost his mind. Wild, relentless, unstoppable.

“I don’t want to get married.”

Marriage had never been part of her plan with David.

Just then, Lola wrapped her arms around Ella’s neck and looked up at her with big, pleading eyes. “Mommy, why won’t you marry Daddy?”

Guilt settled heavy in Ella’s chest. For three years, Lola had wished for a dad and a real family. Ella knew she owed her little girl so much more. “Lola, Mommy...”

Before she could finish, Lola puffed out her cheeks and glared at David. “I get it. Daddy must have done something to make you upset. That’s why you won’t marry him, right? Daddy, it’s all your fault!”

Ella couldn’t help but smile. Lola really was her little sidekick, always ready to stand up for her.

David turned to Lola, his voice warm and sincere. “You’re right, sweetheart. Daddy made a lot of mistakes and hurt Mommy’s feelings before. But I want another chance. Can you help me, Lola? If I mess up again, Mommy can leave me whenever she wants. You’ll keep an eye on me, okay?”

Lola nodded solemnly, then looked back at Ella. “Mommy, if Daddy says sorry and tries to be better, maybe you can give him one more chance? Just one?”

Ella laughed. This kid was just too much sometimes. It was impossible to say no when her daughter was looking at her like that, eyes shining with hope.
