Lilly shook her head. “No. Three years ago, he called and asked me out, but when I got there, he never showed up. I haven’t seen him since.”
She let out a bitter laugh. “He was already married back then, and I never saw Lilian again either. Maybe he took her somewhere else and started a new life.”
Ella looked at her, worry in her eyes. “Lilly, are you okay?”
Lilly forced a small smile. “I’m fine, Ella. Jace and I are finished. I’m not going to let him hurt me anymore.”
Ella nodded. “Good. Let’s have something to eat.”
Just then, two more people walked into the restaurant. It was Jessa and Sarah.
After the embarrassment at the Emerald Banquet, they had decided to meet up and commiserate.
Sarah was fuming. “This is all Ella’s fault. Everyone in our circle is laughing at us now. The rich guys I was talking to have stopped replying to my messages. Some of them even blocked me.”
Sarah was always juggling a bunch of wealthy guys, keeping her options open at all times.
Jessa looked annoyed. “Calm down, Sarah. We’ll figure out a way to get back at Ella.”
Suddenly, Sarah stopped in her tracks. “Jessa, look. It’s Ella and Lilly.”
Jessa turned to look and spotted Ella sitting with Lilly. Little Lola sat next to them.
Jessa’s eyes widened. “Is that Ella’s daughter? She’s already so big.”
Ella had disappeared for three years, and this was her first time showing up with Lola. Both Jessa and Sarah were stunned.
Sarah sneered, “Of course that’s her daughter. She’s so pretty, just like Ella. Another little troublemaker.”
