The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 559

Wyatt flashed a small smile. “Ella, what’s going on with you today? Were you doing that on purpose for Mr. Harmon to see?”

Ella, curled up in Wyatt’s arms, slowly raised her head to look at him. “Wyatt, I swear, I can never hide anything from you.”

“So, what’s the story between you and him this time?”

Ella let out a soft sigh. “Jessa is Moss’ daughter. The Harmon and Wade families have a marriage agreement. David’s supposed to marry Jessa. Mrs. Harmon is flying into Rockford Bay tomorrow. I bet she’s coming to make sure David and Jessa end up together.”

Wyatt studied her. “So, you got close to me just now hoping David would let you go?”

“Wyatt, it’s over between David and me. There’s no reason for him to struggle with it anymore. And honestly, I don’t want to be part of it.”

Wyatt nodded. “Ella, I hope that’s truly what you want.”

“It is,” Ella said quietly.

She rested her hand on her stomach, gently tracing small circles.

Wyatt glanced down at her belly. “And you’re still not planning to tell Mr. Harmon about the baby? He thinks it isn’t his, that it’s mine. After seeing us together, he probably believes we’re a little family now.”

Ella’s lashes lowered, casting shadows on her cheeks. “There’s no reason to tell him. He doesn’t need to know.”

Wyatt’s lips quirked up. “Funny. You used to want to tell him the truth about the baby. He deserves to know, and so does the child. But now, you’re set on keeping it quiet. Is it because you think knowing about the baby would make things harder for him? Deep down, you still care about him, don’t you?”

Ella’s gaze shot up. “I don’t—”

Wyatt reached over and ruffled her hair gently. “It’s okay, Ella. You don’t have to explain. Only you know how you really feel.”
