Lilly walked away. Sarah and Lucas soon went their separate ways too.
Sarah grabbed her phone and called Jessa. The moment Jessa heard about Lilly waiting at the movie theater all night, only to come back home soaked and miserable, she burst out laughing.
“That is priceless. So what if she’s the Lynch family heiress? She’s still ugly. Sarah, you are incredible. Lucas is totally obsessed with you now.”
Sarah smiled. “Don’t get too excited, Jessa. Tomorrow’s going to be even better.”
“She asked for it, teaming up with Ella and trying to go against us. Serves her right. I can’t wait to hear what happens next, Sarah.”
“Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.”
…
Ella didn’t get back to the dorm until late. The room was pitch dark, not a light on anywhere.
Maybe Lilly was still out on her date.
She must be having a good time.
Ella turned on the light, only to spot a small shape curled up on the bed. Lilly was already back, fast asleep.
That was strange. “Lilly, you’re back already? How was your date with Lucas? Did you have fun?”
Lilly didn’t turn around. “Yeah, it was fun. I’m tired, Ella. I just want to sleep.”
Ella gently tucked the blanket around her. “Okay, get some rest.”
With that, she grabbed her pajamas and headed for the shower.
Under the covers, Lilly stayed as small as she could, her whole face wet with silent tears.
…
The next morning, when Lilly finally woke up, Ella was already gone. Her eyes were still puffy and red from crying herself to sleep.
She was washing up when a loud, urgent knock sounded at the door.
