The next day, the students of the Academy of Mystique’s East-West District heard something—
"The academy has a new Demon Master, and I hear he smells kind of nice."
"I say, can you guys stop being fixated on how others smell? It’s because of this that those humans always find us demons weird."
"But seriously, the smell is really good, I’ve smelled it myself."
"I wonder which class he’ll teach, maybe I’ll take a whiff later."
The chatter of the surrounding Imp Sprites reached his ears, and Dashiell looked downright deflated,
"I thought he was going to disguise as a student, but turns out he’s the Demon Master..."
What a letdown.
Scarlett Jennings wasn’t disappointed by this; in fact, she had anticipated it,
"Considering his status and age, he couldn’t possibly pretend to be a student. Besides, as a Demon Master, he’d have more freedom than a student."
Scarlett wasn’t surprised that Samuel Chalmers would enter the academy as a Demon Master; she just couldn’t quite imagine what Samuel would look like as one.
She was thinking this but didn’t expect to see him so soon.
Sitting in the Special Demon Squad, Scarlett Jennings looked at the Samuel Chalmers on stage, dressed casually with frameless glasses. Although she still couldn’t see him clearly, it was enough to feel fresh.
Samuel Chalmers’s voice was deep and calm on stage, introducing himself without much emotion,
"I’m Samuel, the new Demon Master for the Special Demon Squad, mainly responsible for history at the Demon Level in the East and West Districts."
Hearing what he was teaching, the folks in the Special Demon Squad, except for Hannah Hearne and Callum Yuan, looked downright disillusioned. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
The girl with glasses in the back row, Naomi, couldn’t help but sigh,
"Such a good-looking young Demon Master, why would he choose to teach demon history?"
For any demon, few are interested in literature and history.
The most they can remember is their family history or which powerful Great Demons have emerged from other clans.
As for legitimate demon history, what’s it got to do with them?
Which respectable demon studies such boring things?
It’s only those with weak demonic power and no combat ability that study this.
Blue Mirror always says what’s on his mind and directly asked,
"Sir, what kind of demon are you? Are you from the herbivorous or botanical demon clans?"
Samuel Chalmers glanced at him but had no time to answer when another handsome boy in the class spoke up,
"What? Do you look down on us botanical demons?"
The boy speaking was named Ferris, and Scarlett Jennings remembered he was the only one in the Special Demon Squad from the botanical class, and the only Poison Vine specializing in it.
It’s said the name Ferris signifies the ferrying of the River of Oblivion, basically meaning to send opponents off to reincarnation.
Blue Mirror, seeing him speak, wasn’t the least bit deterred, raising an eyebrow,
"I’m just stating the fact that every demon knows, botanical demons have gentle demonic power and aren’t great at fighting."
Speaking, without waiting for Ferris to open his mouth, he quickly added,
"Of course, you’re an exception."
This Poison Vine may look human, but in action, he’s sneakier than me!
Ferris gave a light snort, not speaking further. Scarlett Jennings thought the topic was over, but Blue Mirror circled back and asked Samuel Chalmers again on stage,
"So, sir, what kind of demon are you?"
Samuel Chalmers heard this and didn’t play coy, giving his pre-set answer indifferently,
"Tree Demon."
Blue Mirror immediately chuckled, "I knew it!"
Tree Demons, so weak.
No wonder you teach history.
Samuel Chalmers’s identity as a Demon Master was just a cover, and he had no intention of getting involved in trivial matters with the students.
