The Day I Walked Away My Empire Began novel Chapter 113

“Hello?” A soft, gentle voice floated through the phone.

Steven listened, his brow furrowing deeper with every word. “What did you say? Can you repeat that?

“No… that can’t be possible, right?

“Okay. I understand. I’ll be there as soon as I can.”

The call lasted barely two minutes before the line went dead.

Steven’s heart was all over the place, rising and crashing like he was trapped on a rollercoaster. He stood there, frowning, his mind completely blank, lost and unsure what to do next.

After five minutes of silence, he finally pulled himself together and called his assistant. “Andy, book me the fastest flight to Switzerland. I need to leave as soon as possible.”

“Yes, Mr. Heath. I’ll check for the soonest departure.”

Andy was efficient as always. “Mr. Heath, the earliest flight is tonight at seven.”

“Book it.”

Once the ticket was settled, Steven drifted over to the edge of a flower bed and just sat there, staring off into space. For someone usually so decisive and sharp, he suddenly couldn’t make a single call. He felt stuck, helpless, and completely lost.

Half an hour later, he dragged himself back to the hospital room, looking defeated.

Mr. Anderson glared at him, clearly frustrated. “Where did you go?”

Miranda’s face was tight with worry. “Steven, the nurse has been waiting to clean up your wounds. Where did you disappear to?”

“…Did Lucie wake up?”

“Not yet.”

Steven’s mind was a mess. “I want to see her.”
