She wasn't keen on attending that wedding reception in the first place, but Isaac Salter insisted on her presence. Seeing as she was under his roof, she had no choice but to oblige.
Isaac seemed mildly annoyed by her behavior, but he couldn't bring himself to scold her when he saw the light in her eyes.
He took a deep breath and calmly said, "You look tired. Take a rest."
She could sleep through a makeup session, so the least she could do was rest and stay quiet during the car ride.
Brittany Dustin was only too glad to oblige. She closed her eyes and was soon asleep.
Isaac fetched a light blanket and draped it over her. While doing so he caught a whiff of her sweet scent, and his throat bobbed. He managed to somehow suppress the urge to kiss her and forced himself to sit back down.
Upon reaching the wedding reception, Brittany hadn't woken up yet.
Looking out of the car window, Isaac saw the guests coming and going. Nathan Jarvis wanted to wake Brittany up, but Isaac stopped him from doing so.
"You go on ahead. We'll come in a bit."
Nathan understood and stepped out of the car.
Brittany was a light sleeper. The sound of voices roused her.
The wedding reception was opulently decorated. Brittany opened the car door and stepped out. Isaac followed her closely behind.
"Mr. Salter, Ms. Dustin!"
As soon as they alighted, Shona Bennett turned to them. She was wearing a crescent white gown, her smile radiant.
She was pregnant, but people wouldn’t be able to guess that just by looking at her yet. She radiated a soft maternal glow. Brittany smiled as she congratulated her, "Ms. Bennett, congratulations on your wedding."
Shona clasped Brittany's hand and grinned, "Thank you."
Ryan followed closely behind her, always keeping a close eye on her.
"Mr. Salter, please come in."
Brittany didn't come empty-handed. She pulled out a wedding gift from her bag, saying, "Congratulations to the both of you."
Ryan cordially accepted the gift, "Thank you, Ms. Dustin. Please come in."
As they walked into the reception, a few guests gasped when they saw Isaac.
"Of course, but William won't agree." Mrs. Dillion was anxious.
Carla Salter had waited for William Dillion for so many years. How could she not want them to be together?
But William wouldn't budge!
Olivia grinned slyly, "Aunt, I have thought of a way to make it happen. Let's cook the rice till it's done."
Once their relationship was established, William would have to marry Carla. That way, Brittany would be completely out of the picture.
And they could mend their relationship with the Salter family. Even a little help from the Salters would be enough for Olivia.
Mrs. Dillion hesitated a bit, "You mean..."
Did she want to finalize that marriage at the wedding reception?
Olivia whispered something into Mrs. Dillion's ear. Mrs. Dillion's face changed, but then she nodded, "Alright, let's do as you say."
Olivia beckoned her assistant over, "Do as I say later..."
