Isaac retreated to the master bedroom, feeling all out of sorts.
Brittany had never treated him that way before. From the moment they met, she was like a little sun, constantly gravitating towards him and warming him up.
But then, she was full of rejection towards him, even bringing up divorce.
Isaac trudged downstairs to the wine cellar and fetched a bottle of wine. On his way back up, he noticed the guestroom door was still open. He found it strange, so he decided to check it out.
Before he could push the door open, he heard a sound from the bathroom.
The bottle of red wine in his hand crashed to the floor, splashing everywhere, the red liquid spreading across the floor. Isaac didn’t even give it a second thought, but kicked open the bathroom door instead.
"Bri!"
He rushed over, grabbed Brittany by the waist and pulled her into his arms, "Bri, are you okay?"
Brittany winced in pain. She forgot she was still mad at him and clung to his shirt instinctively, "My foot hurts!"
"I’ll take you to the hospital."
Isaac scooped Brittany up, wrapped a towel around her, and dashed out the door.
"No need..." Brittany stopped him. Her little toe was clenched, "I just have a cramp in my foot."
Cramps in the legs are pretty common in the later stages of pregnancy.
She just didn't expect it would cramp up while she was taking a shower.
Isaac quickly placed her on the bed, then went into the bathroom. When he came out, he was holding a warm towel. He placed the towel on her leg.
Feeling the heat, Brittany instinctively recoiled.
"Don't move," Isaac grabbed her foot and started massaging it, "How many times has this happened?"
Brittany’s leg had cramped up before, but she never told Isaac.
She used to keep it from him because she didn’t want him to worry, but she just didn’t want to say anything then.
Seeing her silent, Isaac felt a sinking feeling in his heart, his massaging motions became slightly heavier, "Answer me."
Brittany paused with her hand holding the towel. She looked at Isaac and asked, "Are you blaming me for the state of our relationship?"
"I didn't mean that." Isaac licked his lips and said, "I'll move in to sleep here tonight. I'll be worried if you're here alone."
Brittany flung the warm towel in Isaac's face, her eyes full of annoyance, "If you move in, I'll leave right away!"
Isaac didn't get mad, instead, he calmly fetched another warm towel and returned to her side. Ignoring her resistance, he firmly held her leg and said, "We're married; we should be sleeping in the same bed."
Brittany struggled a few times, but to no avail.
Isaac massaged her for almost half an hour, then went to bed.
He reached out and wrapped his arms around Brittany's waist. Brittany instinctively moved to the side, but he held her tight, "Move again, and you'll hurt."
Brittany glared at Isaac, knowing that she couldn't push him away, she just gave up.
“Just think of him as a body pillow,” Brittany thought to herself, feeling defeated.
When Grace learned that Brittany had moved back to Radiant Residences and that things were tense between her and Isaac, after much thought, she just couldn't sit still.
