The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 243

Between dreams and reality, Isaac subconsciously reached out, wanting to hold Brittany.

But, his arms found no one.

"Bri?"

He opened his eyes, finding himself alone.

The silence in the ward was unsettling. He instinctively got up, looking for Brittany.

The sound of the door being pushed open reached his ears.

Brittany slowly walked in. As she noticed he had woken up, she didn't get a chance to speak.

Isaac quickly approached, wrapping his arms around her, pressing her head into his chest, his breathing slightly ragged. "Where did you go?"

He thought he was dreaming and finding Brittany was part of the dream.

But that empty room a moment ago was the harsh reality he woke up to.

Hannah stood outside the door. She felt like a third wheel!

She quickly closed the door, cutting off everything happening inside the ward.

Brittany sensed Isaac's anxiety, her small hands wrapping around his waist. "Zakky, I just went for a walk."

She paused for a moment. "I've had a rest."

Isaac sighed in relief. He picked her up and set her down by the bed. "Bri, wherever you go next time, you gotta let me know."

Brittany knew she had scared him and was willing to go along with him.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, gently kissing his lips. "Got it."

They shared an intimate moment before Brittany's eyes started to well up. "We should hold Grandma’s funeral as soon as possible."

A pang of sorrow hit Isaac's heart. He took her hand in his. "Okay."

When Brittany left, she was still in a bad mood.

When she fell asleep, Isaac looked for Hannah.

"Where did Bri go?"

Hannah sensed the coolness in his tone and told him everything.

Isaac stood up. "I got it. You can go now. I'll handle the hospital stuff."

When Brittany was in a coma, Grace had spent a lot of time in the hospital. She was indeed exhausted, so Isaac took her back to Salter Manor.

"Bri, don't be too sad about your grandma's passing, okay?"

Brittany gave a weak smile. "I know."

Brittany had a poor appetite, but Isaac insisted on her drinking a bowl of soup, then took her to the funeral home.

In Imperial City, it was customary to keep vigil for elders.

Donna had no biological children, and her only adopted son, Robert, was currently in jail, unable to attend.

Isaac chose the largest room in the funeral home, and the coffin and flowers were the best.

As soon as Brittany entered the funeral home, her eyes started to redden.

The funeral home was cold and empty. She walked up to the coffin and knelt down.

Her knees hurt a little, but she didn't care. Covering her face, she sobbed uncontrollably.

Isaac knelt beside her, with his large hand gently patting her back.

Brittany knelt all night, crying in the first half, and in the second half, she couldn't cry anymore. She just stared blankly at Donna's photo, not uttering a word.
