The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 235

Blood was splattering everywhere.

His face turned pale from the extreme pain and his body was drenched in a cold sweat.

They had a secret agreement. They had tracking devices installed on them, but they wouldn't be tracked on regular days. They would only be activated in dangerous situations.

His tracker was hidden near his earlobe.

After one last effort, Derek collapsed like a sack of potatoes. His eyelids felt heavy, and before he passed out, his last thought was of Brittany. He had not let her down.

...

"Nathan, we've picked up Mr. Derek's signal!" The bodyguard was over the moon.

Nathan immediately checked the location and found it was in a suburb about seventy kilometers from Imperial City.

"Start a full search within a fifty-kilometer radius centered on that point."

"Roger that."

After giving the orders, Nathan calculated the time and figured Isaac would arrive soon.

He and a few others got in a car and headed straight for the airport.

The lights in the operating room went off.

Dr. Laurs walked out, and the bodyguard outside the door immediately approached him. "Dr. Laurs, how did the operation go?"

Dr. Laurs sighed.

Sensing something was wrong, the bodyguard asked, "Was there a problem with the surgery? I thought the kidney was a perfect match."

Dr. Laurs scanned the area but didn't see Brittany, and felt a bit let down. "The kidney wasn't the issue. Donna's condition is just too critical. We've done everything we can to save her life, but the surgery was very risky. The chance of Donna surviving is less than ten percent."

The two bodyguards exchanged looks, not knowing what to do.

Donna was wheeled out of the operating room and into a private ward. Knowing there was nothing more he could do, Dr. Laurs immediately booked a flight and prepared to leave.

The two bodyguards took turns standing guard outside the ward, both looking as white as sheets.

After what felt like an eternity, one of the bodyguards went to the bathroom, while the other leaned against the wall and lit a cigarette, taking a deep drag.

They had been on guard for over ten hours and hadn't dared close their eyes. They were beat.

Donna had brought this upon herself.

If she had been willing to leave her wealth to him, he would have never abandoned her.

If she hadn't shown favoritism towards Brittany, things would have never ended up in such a mess.

"Mom, so you do have days like this, huh?"

Robert's face twisted into a sinister grin, "So what if you've had surgery? Still hope to survive? Let me tell you, if I can't make it, neither can you."

"Why did you leave everything to Brittany?!"

"I'm your son! Don’t our years together as a family mean more to you than your time with Brittany? Don't worry; I'll make sure Brittany joins you. You can rest easy."

Donna was wearing a breathing mask and the monitor beside her emitted a faint sound. Robert reached out with trembling hands and unplugged her ventilator.

Instantly, Donna's face turned purple. A flicker of guilt passed through Robert's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by hatred.

He turned around and disappeared into the darkness.

The machine started blaring a warning, but all the medical staff were busy resuscitating other patients, so no one noticed the abnormality in the monitoring room.
