"The Dustin family?"
Derek had spoken to Robert before, "Doesn’t the Dustin family only have one daughter, Patrina?"
"She's the eldest daughter of the Dustin family, and she's always had a rough relationship with them." Loraine intentionally provoked, "I used to be on good terms with Gianna Terrill, but I unintentionally did some wrong things that hurt Brittany. I tried to apologize but was humiliated."
Loraine knew that she and Gianna were calculating Brittany's situation three years ago, and Derek would eventually find out. A quick investigation would reveal all.
Better to spill the beans herself than to wait for him to find out. It might even make her look a bit more innocent.
"I was impulsive and hurt her. I didn't expect she ended up marrying Zac; maybe that’s karma."
"Do you mean her marriage to Zac wasn't accidental?"
Derek's expression suddenly changed. According to Loraine, Brittany might have known Isaac's identity all along and got close to him, even marrying him, all to get back at Loraine.
If that's the case, then Brittany needed to be investigated carefully.
"No, no, no, I was just speculating. I don't have any evidence." Loraine looked embarrassed, "Derek, we don't have any evidence, and Brittany won't admit it. Don't take it too seriously; I was just talking off the top of my head."
But Derek took it seriously, "Don't worry. I’ll look into it carefully. If I find out she's not a good person, I’ll tell Zac."
He had always disliked Brittany and was even more wary of her.
Loraine got the result she wanted and smirked.
Derek was about to say something but received a call from Isaac. He didn't avoid Loraine.
"Zac. A kidney donor? Okay, I'll get on it as soon as possible, don't worry."
Upon hearing the words "kidney donor", a glint flashed in Loraine's eyes. Who needed a kidney? Why was Isaac personally involved?
While she was puzzled, Derek hung up the phone and rubbed his temples, "Loraine, you rest well. I'll come see you in a few days."
"I heard you're looking for a kidney donor. Who’s sick?" Loraine looked concerned, "The Field family also has a wide network. Do you need help?"
"It's Brittany's grandmother, reportedly suffering from kidney failure." Derek sighed, "Zac asked me to find a kidney donor."
Loraine's pupils contracted, and she subconsciously clenched her quilt, but her face remained gentle, "Then you go ahead, I’ll talk to my father and see if he can help."
After leaving the hospital, Derek contacted his secretary and said, "Investigate Brittany. The more detailed, the better."
"Brittany, whether I save her or not depends on you. If you agreed to my terms earlier, how could I not get tested?"
Brittany wiped her face hard, her voice hoarse.
Just then, the shrill alarm sounded, doctors and nurses rushed in, and the sound of chaotic footsteps rang out.
Brittany felt a roaring sound in her ears, mixed with the sound of machines pounding her heart repeatedly.
"Donna Dustin's condition is deteriorating."
"What are you standing there for? Get the family out of here; prepare for resuscitation."
Brittany was pushed out of the ward by the nurse. Through a small glass pane in the door, she saw Donna Dustin's clothes being undone, a nurse sitting on her, pressing her chest repeatedly!
The phone slipped from her hand onto the floor. Brittany felt an inexplicable pain. She reached out, subconsciously grabbing the railing.
Isaac rushed over when he heard the news, holding her tightly in his arms, comforting her, "It's okay; your grandma will be fine."
Brittany clung to his clothes tightly, tears streaming down her face, "I agree to his terms; I agree."
